Dangers
The biggest threat to flounder as it is with many other fish is overfishing. Overfishing is caused by the many activities of the fishing industry. Current estimates show that about 30 million flounder are alive today. In 2003 only 10% of flounder population survived primarily caused by overfishing and industrial pollution. Flounder are also commonly found on restaurant menus and in refrigerators! Flounder are popular to us humans and is making their population drop drastically as well, but hey we've got to eat too, that's nature. There are so many different varieties of flatfish and they are spread so wide, you never know when a fishermen may accidentally catch one if it is shallow.
